2.Alberuni:-
A celebrated historian who visited India in company with the armies of Mahmud of Ghazni.
3.Albuquerque:-
The real founder of the Portuguese Empire in the east. He conquered Goa in 1510 and made it his capital.
4.Amir Khusro:-
Famous Indian literary man in the court of Alauddin Khilji. He wrote in Persian as well as in Hindi.
5.Aryabhatta:-
The great mathematician and astronomer during the reign of Chandragupta Vikramaditya.
6.Aurobindo Ghosh:-
An exponent of Indian nationalism, philosopher, poet and saint. Founded Jugantar, Karma Yogin and Dharma. First editor of Bande Mataram. His philosophical works are Savitri, Life Divine, Essay on Gita, etc.
7.Babar:-
Babar was founder of the Mughal Empire in India. He conquered the throne of Delhi after the first battle of Panipat (1526) and ruled for four years (1526-1530).
8.Bana Bhatta:-
He was court poet of Harsha and author of Harshacharita and Kadambari.
9.Bankim Chander Chatterjee:-
A patriot poet and novelist of Bengal known as the literary king of Bengal after Madhusudan.
His works: Mrinalini; Durgesh Nandini; Kapala Kundala; Raj Singh; Chandra Shekhar; Anand Math; Indra.
10.Lord William Bentick:-
Governor of Madras during Vellore Mutiny (1806) and came out as Governor-General of India (1828-1835).He introduced English education in India. He is known for many reforms-suppression og thuggee; prohibition of sati; female infanticide and human sacrifices; financial, administrative and educational reforms.
