The Subject and The Predicate

Every sentence has two parts-
1.Subject Part.
2.Predicate Part.


That part of a sentence which denotes the person or thing about which something is said, is called the Subject of the sentence. The italicized words in the following sentences express the subject-
1.Ronny sings a song.
2.This story is very interesting.
3.Honesty is the best policy.


That part of a sentence which tells something about the person or thing denoted by the subject, is called the Predicate . The italicized words in the following sentences express the Predicate-
1.The girls are playing a match
2.He felt pity for the beggar.
3.There are seven days in a week.
